Leadership

Our church is Jesus-ruled, Elder/Board-led, and Congregationally-accountable. Jesus is the ultimate leader of the church. Under his leadership, he appoints human leaders who are called to lovingly, sacrificially, and boldly lead his church to become everything it should become. Our church loves its leaders, and our leaders love the church.

Matt Boyd - pASTOR

Matt moved his family to Portland in Summer 2017 to start Sojourn and currently serves as the Lead Pastor. He moved to Portland with over a decade of experience in church planting. Matt and his wife Andrea met when Matt was doing summer missions in Argentina, were married in 2007, and have three boys. They love calling Portland home and look forward to seeing how God uses them to invite others on a journey of learning what it means to follow Jesus.

Staff

The staff exists to lead the ministries and operations of the church in such a way that catalyzes the church to accomplish its mission. As we grow our desire is for the staff to grow and serve in a variety of roles such as ministry directors, ministry coordinators, and ministry support. If you notice an area of the church without someone overseeing it and you are passionate and gifted in that area let’s chat!

Andrea Gonzalez-Boyd - Women’s Equipper and Kids discipleship

Andrea oversees the equipping of women at Sojourn Church and the Kids Table. She has more than twenty years of ministry experience serving in Argentina, India, and various cities in the United States. Prior to her work with Portland she spent time equipping, training, and discipling women in S. Asia who were being rescued out of red light districts.

Ben Hunnicutt - Worship and COmmunications

Ben oversees the worship component of our weekend gatherings and primarily leads us through music. He is passionate about disciples making disciples and pointing all people to Jesus.

Amy Reyna - Ministry Assistant and College Minister

Amy serves as the Administrative/Ministry Assistant of Sojourn. She is a recent college graduate and is passionate about seeing others follow Jesus.
